Bandwidth limits on VPS servers

Procédure

Introduction

Bandwidth is an essential parameter for a hosting package. It determines the volume of data that the package will be able to exchange with the other devices connected to the server.

Our VPS server packages have dedicated bandwidth. This setting will be different for each package, and in this documentation we will look at the settings applied and any limitations that may arise during the life of the server.

What bandwidth is offered on our packages?

Here is a table summarising the bandwidths applied to our VPS packages:

1. Information on Low Cost VPS packages

Why is the bandwidth of my VPS limited?

In order to guarantee the integrity of our network and our infrastructure while allowing your services to function, we are obliged to limit the bandwidth of a VPS package as soon as we notice that the volume of traffic is too high and does not match the resources of your package.

Our system checks each VPS hosting package every 24 hours. A calculation is made to assess the volume of data transferred over the last 30 days.

If the volume of data exceeds the limit indicated in the table corresponding to your package above, then the bandwidth will be temporarily limited with the corresponding value indicated in this same table.

How can I remove the bandwidth limit on my VPS package?

As indicated above, our system checks the volume of data exchanged over the last 30 days. It limits the bandwidth if the VPS has exchanged more than the set limit, but it also unlimits it as soon as it notices that the volume of data exchanged is below this limit. The unblocking action is automatic and does not require any intervention on your part.

As our robots pass through every 24 hours, the restriction will be effective for a minimum of 24 hours, provided that the volume of data exchanged over the last 30 days has fallen below the restriction threshold.

What can I do to prevent my VPS from having limited bandwidth?

In order to prevent your VPS from being limited in bandwidth, to restore optimal bandwidth or to avoid a new limitation following an unbundling, it is necessary to know the origin of this data consumption.

This may be due to abnormal use of a script or service. This should be checked directly on the server. Our support team may be able to help you find the cause.

If this consumption is due to a site on the VPS, the use of a CDN such as Cloudflare can limit the volume of data exchanged.

Finally, if the consumption is legitimate, you risk being regularly limited by our system. In this case, we invite you to consider increasing the transfer limit of your VPS service so that it matches your needs. To do this, you can upgrade your server to a more powerful package.
