What is an AFNIC Pre-Registration Term?

A term subject to AFNIC preliminary examination is a domain name that must go through a mandatory stage prior to registration.

Certain terms cannot be registered automatically in the .FR, .PM, .RE, .TF, .WF or .YT domains (domains managed by AFNIC).

In this case, domain name registration is subject to prior examination so that the registry can check that the term can be registered by the applicant.

This is particularly the case for domain names containing the name of a municipality, which can only be created for the town hall of the municipality in question.

How do I register a term subject to AFNIC prior examination?

Note : Registering a .FR domain name for a town council requires manual action on our part, which is invoiced at 29 euros excluding VAT in addition to the price of your initial order.

Follow the steps below to create a domain name subject to AFNIC prior examination:

1. Contact our sales department to request registration of the requested domain name

Please provide your full contact details, as well as the domain name to be created and the package and options you have chosen.

2. The sales department will send you a quotation along with the available payment methods (credit card, PayPal, bank transfer or cheque) + 29 euros (excl. VAT) in fees.

3. Once payment has been received, we will register your domain name (please allow 24 hours after payment for the domain to be registered).

If AFNIC refuses the registration of the chosen domain, the payment will be placed on your customer account in the form of a prepaid credit, to be used on any future order.
