cPanel Reseller : Getting started guide

The LWS cPanel reseller offer allows you to become your own web host by creating several cPanel accounts for your customers via the WHM interface. You can manage your customers' accounts simply by allocating them the resources of your choice.

To make full use of your cPanel reseller account, please follow a few simple steps:

Step 1: Transferring your website or reseller account

1/ New customer

If you already have your own website or reseller account with another web host, you must first transfer it to your cPanel LWS reseller account.

To transfer your website, follow our transfer guide;

2/ Already a customer

If you chose your domain name when you created your cPanel reseller pack, go tostep 3.

If you already have your domain name with our company or another hosting provider, you need to update your DNS. To do this, follow step 2 :

Step 2: Updating your DNS

This simple step is compulsory in order to operate your cPanel reseller account: your name servers must be modified in order to point your domain name to your reseller pack.

  • If you chose your domain name when you created your cPanel reseller pack, this step has already been completed: go straight on tostep 3.

  • If you created your domain name via another pack with our company, go to your LWS Panel account to indicate the DNS Servers that were sent to you in your delivery email. Click here to find out how to change the DNS servers of a domain name

  • If you created your domain name with another company, indicate the DNS Servers that were sent to you in your delivery email via the management panel that you have with them or contact them.

If you want to personalise your name servers by registering your own name servers: find out how to set up private name servers here.

Step 3: Creating your reseller package in WHM

First of all, you need to allocate disk space and bandwidth so that your website can function normally.

Start by creating your web hosting package in WHM and then create your account in WHM.

Once your account has been created, use the same method to create your customers' accounts(step 4).

cPanel Reseller : Getting started guide Never delete your main website - If you delete it, your reseller account will no longer be functional.

Step 4: Creating your customers' accounts / web spaces

You are now ready to create your first customer account.

To do this, follow the procedure for creating customer accounts in WHM:

Go to the "Account functions" section & click on "Create an account" then fill in the required fields:

  1. Domain : Indicate the domain name for which you are creating the account. If you are creating a cPanel account for a sub-domain, do not enter www in front of the domain name.
  2. User name: Select the user name automatically suggested by WHM or define a new one (limited to 8 characters, without hyphens, spaces or special characters). You cannot create the user "root" as this is already used by the server.
  3. Password : Choose a password (do not enter the password for your WHM account, do not use the user name for security reasons). You can automatically generate a strong and unique password by clicking on the "Password Generator" button.
  4. Email : This address will receive all automatic notifications sent by WHM. This address will receive account information by e-mail as soon as it is created.
  5. Package : Allocate the package limits for this account here. To avoid duplication, each new package will be automatically prefixed with your reseller username and the _ character.
  6. DNS settings : If you have specified private name servers, tick the box "Use the name servers specified at the domain registrar. (Ignore locally specified name servers). If you prefer to use the name servers configured by default at server level, leave this box unchecked.

To finish creating the account, click on the "Create" button.

Step 5: Publishing your website

You can now publish your website.

To do this, you can use the cPanel file manager or publish via an FTP client (such as FileZilla, for example).

Step 6: Useful links - Control panels

The links to the panels that are useful for using your cPanel reseller account are indicated in your delivery email.
