Compressing and decompressing files from the File Manager

This documentation guides you through the steps for compressing (archiving) and decompressing files using the LWS Panel's file manager.

I. Accessing the desired location

The file manager is accessed directly from your hosting management in your LWS Panel account. We recommend that you follow this documentation to find out how to do this.

Next, navigate to the folder where the item to be compressed or decompressed is located.

1. Use the tree structure on the left-hand side of the interface (1) to navigate to the folder or file concerned.
2. Click on the folder (2) to open it and display its contents in the main panel (3).

II. Compressing files

• In the main panel, select the files and folders you wish to compress(1).
• To select several files, hold down the Ctrl key (or Command key on the Mac) while you click on each file.

• In the top navigation bar, click the'Archive' button(2).
• A window opens asking you to select the destination folder for the archive

• A new dialogue window will open asking you to choose the compression format (usually ZIP).
• Enter a name for the archive, including the appropriate extension (for example, archive.zip).
• Click "Create" or "OK" to start the compression process.

• Once compression is complete, the archive file will appear in the main panel of the selected folder.

III. Decompressing Files

• In the main panel, select the archive (1) you wish to decompress.

• In the top navigation bar, click on the"Extract" button (2).
• A dialog box will open asking you to choose the decompression location.

• Click on "Confirm" to start the decompression process.

• Once decompression is complete, the extracted files and folders will appear in the main panel of the selected folder.
