How do I synchronise my address book with another device (CardDAV)?

What is CardDAV?

CardDav is a client/server protocol for managing an address book. It is designed to store and share contact data on a server.

The procedure differs slightly depending on the graphical theme used in Roundcube. This documentation explains the two procedures depending on the theme you are using.

Procedure with the Larry theme

1. Connect to the webmail of the e-mail account for which you wish to synchronise the address book.

2. Go to the "Settings" section

3. Go to"Preferences".

Click on the"CardDAV" menu

You can choose to synchronise an existing address book, or create a new one.

Enter the given user name and URL (save in a safe place)

The password is the one you chose when you created the email address for which you want to synchronise the address book.

4. You can now synchronise your address book with all your devices, you will only be asked for theCardDAV URL, the user name and the password.

The new contacts you create in this synchronised address book will therefore be accessible via your Roundcube webmail as well as on any synchronised device.

Procedure with the Elastic theme

Connect to your Roundcubewebmail .

Click on the"Settings" button on the left-hand side of your screen.

Click on the"Preferences" tab and then on"CardDAV".

You can choose an existing address book or create a new one. To synchronise the various devices, you will need the URL, which you can view in the URL field on your page.

The passwordto be used for the default address book is the one attached to your email address.

When you synchronise with another device, you will be asked for the URL of the address book and the password attached to it.

Conclusion

You can now synchronise your CalDav address book with another device on your Roundcube Webmail linked to your LWS shared hosting package. CalDav also allows you to synchronise your calendar.
