How do I create an autoresponder?

In this documentation, we will look at how to set up an auto-responder on an email box created using ISPConfig.

What is an auto-responder?

An autoresponder is a system that automatically responds to each email received.
This makes it possible, for example, to notify the sender that the recipient is not yet ready to reply. This is very useful, especially during holidays.

Step 1: Log in to ISPConfig as an email user

Usually, you log into ISPConfig as an administrator (with the "admin" account). Today, we are going to connect to ISPConfig as a simple email user. To do this

1. Go to the ISPConfig URL. This is often in the form https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080 (where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your VPS).
2. Enter your email address as the user and the password for this email address as the password.

Step 2: Configure the autoresponder

Then click on Autoresponder in the right-hand column and fill in the field :

• Betreff: subject of the automatic reply
• Text: content of the autoresponder
• Enable the autoresponder: tick to activate it
• Start on: start date and time of the autoresponder, useful for scheduling its activation
• End by: date and time when the autoresponder ends, useful for scheduling its deactivation.

Then click Save and you're done.
