What is SSH used for?

SSH (Secure SHell) is a protocol that gives you full access - via an SSH management console - to your virtual dedicated server.

In particular, this protocol allows you to manipulate and edit your files and folders, turn on/restart/turn off your services, install software, manage rights on your server, etc.

It is managed by a system of private and public keys. This secures the information that passes through it.

Why is SSH access blocked by default?

We have decided to block access to SSH on our turnkey Dedicated Server packages, to prevent you from making any mistakes that could cause your server to malfunction.

Our packages are sold on a turnkey basis, meaning that they are optimised for the use for which they have been created and that you do not normally need to be a specialist to take full advantage of them.

The web administration panel included with our packages allows you to fully manage your services from a simple browser, which is more intuitive for beginners and poses no risk to the server (for example, you cannot delete a configuration file necessary for the server to function correctly via this panel).

This means that access to SSH is logically unnecessary for more than 99% of clients.
