How do I configure an LWS email address on an iPhone or iPad?

This guide explains how to set up your LWS e-mail address in the Mail application on your iPhone or iPad so that you can send and receive e-mail directly from your device.

There are two possible methods:

• manual configuration using IMAP and SMTP settings ;
• automatic configuration via QR Code (LWS Panel only).

This documentation is intended for users with an LWS email address associated with :

• an LWS domain package
• a Mail Pro package
• managed hosting via LWS Panel
• managed hosting via Plesk
• managed hosting via cPanel

The configuration procedure on iPhone and iPad remains the same regardless of the panel used.

Before getting started

Before configuring your email address on iPhone or iPad, make sure you have the following information:

• your full e-mail address: (example: contact@votredomaine.fr)
• the password for this e-mail address
• your e-mail connection settings
  • LWS Panel email address
  • cPanel email address
• An iPhone or iPad connected to the Internet.

In most cases at LWS, the settings are :

When configuring your account, your iPhone or iPad may ask you to choose between IMAP and POP. Here are our tips for making this choice.

Method 1: Configure the email address manually

This method works with all LWS packages.

It involves adding your email address in the Mail application by entering your mail server settings.

Step 1: Open the iPhone / iPad settings

1. Open the Settings application on your device.

2. Scroll down the list and then tap Mail or"Passwords and accounts".

3. Then tap on Accounts or Add an account.

Step 2: Choose the type of account

1. From the list, select Other.

2. Then press Add a Mail account.

Step 3: Fill in your email address details

Fill in the required fields:

• Name: the name that will appear when you send an email
• Address: your full email address (example: contact@domaine.fr)
• Password: the password for your email address
• Description: a name to identify this account (for example: Professional email)

Then press Next.

Step 4: Configuring the incoming server (receiving emails)

Two protocols are generally available: IMAP or POP.

We recommend using IMAP.

👉 The IMAP protocol keeps your emails synchronised between all your devices (webmail, smartphone, computer). Your messages remain stored on the server and can be accessed from anywhere.

1. Select IMAP at the top of the screen.

2. In the Receiving server section, enter :

• Host name: IMAP server (example: mail.domaine.fr)
• User name: your full email address
• Password: the password for your email address

This information enables your device to receive emails.

3. Now press"Save".

Step 5: Configuring the outgoing server (sending emails)

1. In the Outgoing server section, enter :

• Host name: SMTP server (example: mail.domaine.fr)
• User name: your full email address
• Password: the password for your email address

2. Now press"Save".

👉 The SMTP server is used to send emails.

Even if your device indicates that authentication is optional, you must enter your email address and password to be able to send messages.

Step 6: Confirm configuration

1. Your iPhone / iPad will automatically check the account settings.

2. Once the verification is complete, press Save.

Your email address is now configured.

How do I configure my email address using a QR code?

This method automatically sets up your email settings.

Step 2: Scan the QR Code with your iPhone / iPad

1. Open the Camera application on your iPhone or iPad.
   

2. Scan the QR Code displayed on the screen.

3. A notification will appear: tap on it to download the configuration profile.
   

4. Then authorise the configuration profile to be downloaded.
   

5. Then close the download confirmation window.
   

Step 3: Install the configuration profile

1. Open the Settings application.
   

2. Touch Downloaded profile.
   

3. Press Install in the top right-hand corner.
   

4. A warning will appear, as the profile is not signed by Apple. Don't worry, this is normal as it was generated automatically from your webmail, click"Install".
   

5. If your device is configured with a lock code, it may ask you to enter it. Once you have done this, click"Install".
   

6. Enter the password for the e-mail address to complete the operation.
   

7. Click "OK" to finish.
   

Once the installation is complete, your email address is automatically configured.

Check that the configuration is working

Once the configuration is complete:

1. Open the Mail application on your iPhone or iPad.
   
2. Check that your messages are displayed correctly.
3. Send a test email to your own address or to another address that you can consult.
4. Check that the message has been sent and that you are receiving the new emails.

Expected result

• Your e-mails appear in your inbox.
• you can send an e-mail without an error message
• you are receiving the new messages correctly

If these conditions are met, your configuration is correct.

Delete the configuration profile

If you want to delete the automatic configuration :

1. Open Settings.
   

2. Go to General.
   

3. Press VPN and device management.
   

4. Select the messaging profile
   

5. Press Delete profile
   

The email configuration will then be removed from your device.

Common problems and solutions

Password refused

If the iPhone or iPad indicates that the password is incorrect :

• check that the password is correct
• Test your connection in LWS Roundcube webmail
  • LWS Panel
  • cPanel
• if necessary, reset the password
  • LWS panel
  • cPanel

Unable to send emails

This is usually due to the SMTP server.

Check that :

• The SMTP server is correct.
• Your full e-mail address is being used as the login.
• The password has been entered.

Unable to receive emails

Check the IMAP server information:

• server name
• email address used as login
• the password

The "Downloaded profile" menu does not appear

If you are using QR Code configuration:

• go back to Settings
• or generate a new QR Code from webmail.
